Wake and power management
Why won’t my PC wake from sleep on schedule?
This mostly depends on hardware design. Many laptops ban/disable timer‑based wake on battery to preserve battery life; it typically only works on AC power. On first launch, the app offers a 3‑minute wake test—please wait for it to confirm your device’s capability.
Tip: If the test fails, plug in the AC adapter, enable RTC/Alarm/Resume in BIOS/UEFI, and avoid aggressive power plans that throttle timers.
At home I want wake to be unlocked, but on the go it should be locked—how?
Wakes on AC power are typically in a trusted environment. In Windows, enable No prompt for password on resume from sleep (or set Require sign‑in on wake to Never), then reboot. Result:
  • Typically, wake on AC power goes straight to the desktop.
  • Wake on battery usually returns to the lock screen.
Enable this only in trusted home/office environments. Keep password prompts for public or mobile use.
Installation and permissions
I see “cannot write data” — what should I do?
In most cases, this is caused by corrupted permissions of the app data folder. Check:
  • Path: C:\ProgramData\AutoTimer
  • If the folder has incorrect/locked permissions, delete the entire folder and restart the app—it will recreate it with correct permissions and structure.
Tip: Back up configs first if needed; they’ll be regenerated on the next launch.
Do I need administrator privileges?
For features like scheduled wake, auto‑login after wake, and certain system actions, administrator approval may be required. Install normally, and when Windows prompts for permission (UAC), approve it. If a task fails due to access, run the app as Administrator and retry.
My antivirus flagged the app. Is that expected?
Yes, this can happen and is typically a false positive. Most antivirus engines rely on reputation/allow‑listing: newly released native programs (e.g., built with C++/Lazarus) may be flagged until reputation builds or vendors add them to their whitelists. Always download from the official site and verify the package. If needed, add a temporary exclusion in your security software. Such flags usually disappear after a short period as reputation improves. If you’re unsure, contact support@lifsoft.com with a screenshot and product/version info.
Temporary workaround: add the app folder to your AV exclusions; remove the exclusion later once the false positive is cleared by vendors.
Macros and automation
Why does my recorded mouse macro not play correctly?
Mouse macros depend on absolute screen coordinates and do not adapt to display scaling. In Windows Settings → System → Display, set “Scale” to 100%, then re‑record or play the macro.
If you have multiple monitors, keep the same primary display and ensure resolution/scaling are identical between record and playback.
Hotkeys/macros do nothing in some apps — why?
Many system or elevated apps (running as Administrator) ignore lower‑privileged input. Run PC AutoTimer as Administrator to allow hotkeys/macros to reach those windows. Also avoid display scaling changes between recording and playback.
How can I add delays or waits between macro steps?
Use the recorder’s delay options or insert wait steps between actions (e.g., wait 500–1000 ms before clicking). This improves reliability when apps need time to render dialogs or menus.
Purchasing and licensing
When will I receive my license?
Immediately after payment, your activation key is shown on the return page. A copy will also be emailed within 24 hours. If you don’t see it, check spam/junk or contact support@lifsoft.com with your PayPal transaction ID.
How do I activate my license?
Open the app and go to the registration dialog (e.g., from the Help or About menu). Paste your activation key exactly as received and confirm. Restart the app if prompted.
Can I transfer my license to a new PC?
Yes — one-time transfer per license is allowed. Email support@lifsoft.com with your order reference and the new machine details. We’ll invalidate the old activation and issue a replacement key. Additional transfers may require prior approval or a new license.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a 30‑day money‑back guarantee if the product doesn’t work for you. See Refund Policy for details.
Can I get an invoice with my company name?
Yes. Specify the company name during checkout or email sales@lifsoft.com with your order reference and billing details.
General
Will the PC wake from hibernation or only sleep?
If your hardware/firmware supports RTC wake, it can wake from hibernation as well. Ensure hibernation is enabled in Windows and RTC/Alarm wake is enabled in BIOS/UEFI. Some devices using Modern Standby may have limitations set by the OEM.
Start with Windows and run in the background?
Turn on Run at user login (Start with Windows) in Options. This starts the app after you sign in — it is not a system service and does not run before login. It launches minimized to the tray; your schedules and hotkeys work while you’re logged in.
Need actions before login? Use BIOS/UEFI RTC wake; optionally enable Windows auto‑login after wake if appropriate for your environment.
